Officers stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
